BreakIn ("we", "us", or "our") is a career platform helping people break into tech. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using BreakIn, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your first name, last name, and email address. During onboarding you may optionally provide your location, career background, target role, experience level, and timeline.

Profile data. Any information you add to your profile, including bio, skills, and career goals.

Usage data. We record which pages you visit, roadmap progress you mark complete, and AI Mentor conversations you have. This data is tied to your account and used to personalize your experience.

Payment information. If you purchase a Pro subscription or a practice exam, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number, CVV, or full payment details — only a Stripe customer ID and your subscription/purchase status.

Coaching bookings. If you book a 1-on-1 coaching session, your booking is handled by Calendly. We receive confirmation that a session was booked but do not store session notes or personal details entered into Calendly directly.

2. How we use your information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising or share it with data brokers.

3. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate BreakIn. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

4. Data storage & security

Your data is stored on Supabase servers, which are hosted on AWS infrastructure. All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Row-level security policies ensure users can only access their own data.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile and associated data are permanently deleted within 30 days.

While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@breakinapp.com. We will respond within 30 days.

6. Cookies & local storage

BreakIn does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We use:

You can clear local storage and cookies at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will sign you out and reset any cached preferences.

7. Children's privacy

BreakIn is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes, we'll notify you by email or with an in-app notice. Continued use of BreakIn after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
